Create an Experience

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Whether you're planning a team-building activity, educational program, or community engagement event, creating a compelling Experience sets the stage for participant excitement and success.

All Experience creation happens through the Goosechase web platform - you'll need to use a desktop or mobile browser, as the mobile app is designed for participation only.

In this guide we will walk you through every step from start to finish!

Each section has additional resources linked; if you need a bit of extra guidance with a step or feature, don't hesitate to click for more detailed instructions.

Account Setup

Head to goosechase.com and either log in to your existing account or create a new one. Once your account is created, you will be taken to the Goosechase Studio:

Creating a new Experience

Click the "New Experience" button to begin building your interactive event. This opens the Experience creation workflow where you'll define all the essential details participants will see.

Every successful Experience needs compelling details that attract participants and set clear expectations for the interactive journey ahead.

Experience Image

Upload a visual that represents your Experience's theme or purpose. This image appears on participants' home screens and helps them quickly identify and connect with your event. Choose something eye-catching that reflects the spirit of your Experience - you can always update it later!

Experience images are square, so we recommend images with a 1:1 ratio.

Experience Name

Create a memorable, descriptive name that participants will use to identify your Experience. Make it specific enough to convey purpose while keeping it engaging and easy to remember. Great names grab attention and set expectations for the adventure ahead.

Experience Description

Write a compelling description that serves multiple purposes: explain your Experience's purpose, and most importantly, get participants excited to join!

Use this space to build anticipation and clearly communicate what participants can expect from their interactive journey.

The description is set to 200 characters and is there to give a brief overview of your Experience. If you need to outline any important rules or guidelines, we recommend doing so with a Welcome Mission or a Broadcast.

Experience Location (Optional)

If your Experience takes place in a specific location or city, adding this information can help participants discover your event. Experiences with locations appear in the recommended section for participants who have location

services enabled, making it easier for local participants to find relevant activities.

💡 Helpful Honk: Consider your audience when adding location details. For private or invitation-only Experiences, you might skip the location to maintain exclusivity, while public events benefit from location visibility.

Control who can discover and join your Experience with privacy settings that match your event goals.

Password Protection

Add an optional password to control access to your Experience. Participants will be prompted to enter this password when joining, giving you complete control over who can participate. Share the password only with intended participants to maintain your desired group composition.

Search Visibility

Choose how participants can discover your Experience:

  • Hidden from Search Results: Your Experience can only be found using the unique Join Code, perfect for private events where you want to control exactly who participates.

  • Available in Search Results: Participants can find your Experience by searching for either the Experience name or Join Code, ideal for broader community engagement where you want maximum discoverability.

Save your work

Click "Save" to preserve all your Experience details. Don't worry about getting everything perfect right away - you can return to edit any of these details anytime before or even during your Experience.

What Participants See

Remember that participants will be able to see your Experience photo, name, description, schedule start and end date (which you will add later), and location (if added).

These elements work together to create their first impression, so make them count!

Now that the basics are done, you're now ready to add Missions (this is the fun part)!

FAQ

Why doesn't my Experience show up in the app?

The Goosechase mobile app is designed exclusively for participation, not Experience creation. To create an Experience on mobile, log into the Goosechase website through your device's browser. To see how your Experience appears to participants, join it yourself as a participant through the mobile app.

Should I add a location if I want to keep my Experience private?

We recommend skipping the location field for private Experiences to maintain exclusivity. Adding a location makes your Experience more discoverable to local users, which may not align with private event goals.

What happens if I don't add a password?

Experiences without passwords are open for anyone to join, making them ideal for public events where you want maximum participation. Add a password if you need to restrict access to specific individuals or groups.

Can I change these details after creating my Experience?

Yes! All Experience details can be edited anytime before or during your event. This flexibility allows you to refine your messaging, update images, or adjust privacy settings as your event evolves.
