Do my participants need the password or the team passcode?

What is a team passcode?

Updated over 11 months ago

What is the difference between a password and a team passcode?

A password is a password that allows you to join the Experience, while a passcode is like a password for joining a specific team.

A password ensures that no one without the password can join your Experience. Your password is on the Details tab under Create.

A passcode ensures participants cannot join just any team. The passcodes can be found on the Participants tab under Launch.

Participants will need the team passcode to join an existing team, whether it was created by the Creator of the Experience, or another participant.

As the creator, if you pre-created the teams will need to send participants their team passcode before they can join their team. As a participant, if you created your own team and kept the passcode, you will need to give the passcode to your other teammates who you want on your team.

How do passwords and passcodes work for participants joining my Experience?

Scenario 1: Participants join an existing team that has a passcode on a Experience with a password

If participants are joining an existing team with a passcode, they will not be prompted to enter the Experience password as the passcode acts as the password in this situation.

Scenario 2: Participants join an existing team that has NO passcode on a Experience with a password

If the existing team has no passcode, they will still be prompted to enter the password for the Experience.

Scenario 3: Participants join an existing team that has NO passcode on a Experience with NO password

If there is no password for the Experience, and no passcode for the team, any participants will be able to join the Experience and existing teams.
