These optional features help you create a more polished, branded experience while setting clear expectations and maintaining participant excitement from start to finish.

Implementation Timing:

Best Practices: Plan your customizations as part of your overall Experience strategy. Consider how each element supports your event goals and participant experience, ensuring customizations enhance rather than complicate the participant journey.

Custom Splash Screen

Create a powerful first impression with a custom splash screen that appears when participants join your Experience. This branded welcome screen can feature your organization's logo, event theme, or special messaging that sets the tone before participants dive into missions.

Your splash screen serves as a digital "entrance" to your Experience, helping participants feel they're part of something special and professionally organized. Use it to reinforce your brand identity and build excitement for what's ahead.

Brand Consistency: Custom splash screens ensure your Experience aligns with your organization's visual identity and event theme. Whether you're running a corporate team-building event, educational program, or community celebration, branded elements help participants understand they're engaging with a thoughtfully designed experience.

Custom Terms of Service

Protect your organization and clarify expectations with custom terms of service that participants accept before joining. This is especially important when you plan to use participant-generated content for marketing, social media, or promotional purposes after your event.

Content Usage Rights: Including media usage permissions in your terms ensures you can legally use participant photos and videos in future marketing materials, social media campaigns, or event documentation. Set these permissions upfront to avoid complications later when you want to showcase your event's success.

Participant Expectations: Custom terms can also outline behavior expectations, privacy policies, and any specific rules unique to your Experience. This proactive approach helps prevent issues and ensures all participants understand the guidelines for engagement.

πŸ’‘ Helpful Honk: Set up custom terms before participants join your Experience. Adding them after people have already joined doesn't apply the terms retroactively, so plan ahead for the best legal protection.

Full instructions for scheduling Broadcasts can be found here.

Scheduled Broadcasts

Keep participants engaged throughout your Experience with pre-planned messages that send automatically at strategic times. Schedule encouragement, hints, time reminders, or celebration messages to maintain energy and provide guidance without constant manual monitoring.

Strategic Messaging: Use scheduled broadcasts to:

  • Welcome participants when your Experience goes live

  • Provide helpful hints halfway through challenging missions

  • Celebrate milestones and achievements

  • Remind participants about time limits or deadlines

  • Share updates about prizes or special recognitions

  • Build excitement for upcoming mission releases

Consistent Communication: Scheduled broadcasts ensure consistent participant communication even when you can't actively monitor your Experience. This automation is particularly valuable for longer Experiences or when you have other event responsibilities that limit your availability for real-time management.

FAQ

Do I need custom terms of service for every Experience?

Custom terms are recommended whenever you plan to use participant content for marketing, have sponsors requiring content rights, need to outline liabilities, or need specific behavior or safety guidelines. For casual internal events, default terms may suffice.

Can I change my splash screen after launching?

Splash screen changes typically apply to new participants joining after the change. Existing participants who already passed the splash screen won't see updates unless they rejoin the Experience.

How many scheduled Broadcasts should I plan?

For most Experiences, 3-5 scheduled messages work well, but it depends on how long your Experience is. A welcome message, 1-2 encouragement or hint messages during the event, and a closing celebration. If your Experience is longer, you can have more messages, but avoid over-messaging, which can feel spammy and may result in participants disabling their push notifications.

What image specifications work best for splash screens?

Use high-quality images that display well on mobile devices. We recommend using a JPG or PNG with an aspect ratio of 2:3 e.g. 640px x 960px

Can scheduled Broadcasts include participant names or team-specific information?

Scheduled Broadcasts can be sent to either all participants or individual teams. You cannot send messages to individuals within a team.

What happens if I don't set up these customizations?

Your Experience will work perfectly without these options! They're enhancements that add professionalism and automation, but all core Goosechase functionality works great with default settings.
